NICU

#HowBigBWS Campaign

Why is raising awareness so important? Because we are saving the lives of babies who go undiagnosed with BWS every year. Jacob almost had brain damage because they missed the fact that he had hypoglycemia and sent us home. We almost lost him because the doctors wouldn't listen. We even did our own research and mentioned Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome, and they just turned their heads! It wasn't until we were readmitted to the NICU that the doctors started to listen. I can't imagine this happening to another family out there. I think back to all our tears and the fear we had, and that's what fuels our passion. Because another family may remember this campaign, another doctor may hear about the characteristics and remember our kids' beautiful faces, AND maybe one less baby will go undiagnosed, and one less family will go through what we went through...and they will know they are not alone. Together we can make a difference.

Help support Dr. Kalish and her efforts to research Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome.

Why do we need to research rare diseases? Because research leads to ground breaking discoveries made by dedicated doctors! Dr. Kalish is doing amazing work trying to find the link that causes children with BWS to have cancerous tumors.
